A JADEITE CARVING OF AN ELEPHANT AND BOYS, REPUBLIC PERIODChina, Republic period (1912-1949). Carved as an elephant with its long trunk turned towards the side, caparisoned with a long-tasseled saddle rug, decorated with bats and peaches. Two boys on the back of the elephant, between them a baluster vase containing leafy fronds and fruit. The stone of a light green tone with apple green splashes, pale areas, and russet shadings. Condition: Good condition with minor surface wear, minuscule nibbles and chips to the edges, the stone with natural fissures, some of which may have developed into small hairline cracks over time.
