A LARGE FAMILLE VERTE ‘MAGPIES AND FLOWERS´ BALUSTER VASE AND COVER, QINGChina, Qing dynasty (1644-1912). Of baluster shape rising from an everted foot to a straight neck surmounted by an associated wooden cover worked in openwork, the exterior painted in bright polychrome enamels and iron-red with a continuous scene of magpies and other birds in flight or perched on gnarled flowering trees above craggy rockwork, the neck and foot with iron-red floral décor. Condition: Good condition with some wear, particularly to the enamels, as well as firing flaws. Light scratches here and there and three drilled holes to the shoulder from the former usage of a lamp.
