A BLUE AND WHITE ‘DRAGON AND PHOENIX’ PORCELAIN VASE, c. 1900sChina, Qing Dynasty (1644-1912) to Republic period (1912-1949). Of baluster form, with waisted shoulders, and rising to a trumpet neck, finely painted in underglaze blue, depicting a confronting four-clawed dragon and phoenix pursuing the flaming pearl, amid fire scrolls and above crashing waves, the neck adorned with a band of foliating scrolls above a band of pendent ruyi heads. Condition: Good condition with surface wear, manufacturing irregularities including dark spots and pitting, a hairline crack to the mouth, and slight surface scratches.
