A VERY LARGE GILT LACQUERED STUCCO HEAD OF BUDDHA, AYUTTHAYA PERIODThailand, Ayutthaya period, c. 17th century. The stucco core with several layers of black and gold foil, the hair delicately molded. The face with arched eyebrows and downcast eyes, flanked by elongated earlobes, the hair arranged in tight curls and surmounted by an ushnisha. Mounted to an associated wood base.
