A substantial gold pommel cap, ellipsoid in plan with running filigree braid to the outer edge, beaded borders above and below, lateral spur with granule fill and hole for attachment; upper face with reserved lotus ornament on a textured surface. 17.58 grams, 40mm (1 5/8"). Property of a European businessman; from his private Belgian collection formed in the 1990s; previously in a North American collection formed in Illinois in the 1980s. Very fine condition.
