Description: Blade: Japan, ca. 17th century Shinogi tsukuri form with iorimune. The hada possibly masame, the hamon gunome featuring chikei (or nioi). The tang mumei, ubu and one Mekugi-ana, the tang end kurijiri, the Yasurime katte-sagari. Mountings: Japan, 18th to 19th century The saya in shiny, black roironuri. No kozuka. The bronze tsuba with hitsu has relief on both sides depicting swelling sea waves and scaled dragons. Fuchi and kashira are made of iron with gold inlay decoration, the motif floral, water and dragonflies. The bronze menuki beneath the black tsuka-ito also depicts dragons.
