The bowl is elaborately decorated in blue underglaze with a scene of immortals, and is finished with a metal rim. Selected vessels were finished with rims of silver as early as the Han dynasty to set them apart from the ordinary and to make them suitable for high class clients, and to also protect them from damage. The top of the bowl has a flat lip, and is decorated with scrolled floral details. The bottom of the piece bears a four character Ming mark in double circles, in blue underglaze. The piece measures 10" in diameter x 5"H.
