Antique Bayon style Khmer Brahma. Brahma is the Hindu God of Creation and one of the Trimurti, the others being Vishnu and Shiva. He is sitting with eight arms holding a variety of objects. Brahma's four faces look North, South, East and West. Standing in samapada with his arms radiating around him and clad in a short sampot with fishtail pleat and jeweled sash, the face with wide features surmounted by a cylindrical headdress adorned with a meditating Buddha. In his hands he holds a lotus blossoms and chakras.The casting is beautiful as you can see in the fine details of the face and hands. Each detail is rendered perfectly.
