An inlaid iron circular charger By the Komai Company of Kyoto, Meiji era (1868-1912), late 19th/early 20th century Cast and chiselled in typical Komai silver and gold relief overlay with Sojobo, the King of the tengu (mountain-dwelling demons) seated on a veranda with a feather fan, keenly watching the fight between two tengu subordinates, as he oversees their martial training, within a fruiting-vine border finished with a silver rim; signed on the base Komai sei within a rectangular reserve. 39.2cm (15 3/8in) diam.
