A Chinese Dehua porcelain 'crab and lotus' water dropper, 17th century, modelled as a crab sat atop a large lotus leaf, topped by a leaf-form water receptor, 14.8cm long, on a fitted wood stand carved as a large lotus leaf十七世紀 德化白釉荷葉螃蟹水注c.f. A similar water dropper was sold at Christie's London, The van Daalen Collection of Chinese Art, 30th Oct - 6th Nov 2019, lot 88. Another water dropper was sold at Sotheby's New York, Important Chinese Art, 13th September 2016, lot 319. There are several similar water droppers in the collection at Staatliche Kunstsammlungen Dresden, inv. nos. PO 8477, PO 8478, and PO 8480. A similar water dropper dated to c.1640 is illustrated in 'Exhibition of Blanc de Chine', S.Marchant & Son, London, 1985, plate 33. Another Dehua water dropper dated as Ming c.1640 is illustrated in 'Exhibition of Blanc de Chine', Marchant, London, 2014, page 96, plate 72. 品相報告 Condition Report: The spout has been broken off.
