He then transferred to Académie Julian in Paris and to the Ecole des Beaux-Arts de Paris (Paris Fine Arts College) with the support of the renowned painter Léon Joseph Florentin Bonnat (1833-1922). In 1925, he and his friend, the painter Nguyễn Nam Sơn (1890-1973), created the École des Beaux-Arts de l'Indochine (EBAI), where he served as Director until 1936, thereby contributing to the rise of prominent 20th century Vietnamese artists.
