Depiction of the wrathful and multi-armed Vajrabhairava (also known as Yamantaka) with his consort in ‘yab yum’ embrace in an aureole of flames, standing in alidhasana, in an idealized landscape setting. The head with tall crown and wearing various bone ornaments and skull necklaces. The deity and his consort are holding kartika (knife) and kapala (skullcup) with the essence of the five senses in their primary hands, the auxiliary hands holding various attributes, such as weapons, arrows, scepters and bones. The main group is surrounded by 6 wrathful protectors and consorts in the lower part, and 6 protectors with a central depiction of Manjushri in the upper register. The thangka inscribed on the back in Chinese Yang Zhansha (artist name).
