AN IRONWOOD FIGURE OF GUANYIN, c. 1920sChina, late Qing Dynasty (1644-1912) to Republic period (1912-1949). The serene deity elegantly carved standing on a base, wearing a long robe and cape, her right hand raised, the left holding a ruyi-scepter, her hair pulled up into a tall chignon tied with elegant, tasseled ornaments. The back of the base is carved with an ´imperial collection´ mark within a square. Condition: Good condition with some wear and extensive crackling, the two headdress tassels restored. Provenance: The collection of The Zelnik István Southeast Asian Gold Museum. Institutional art collection in Belgium, acquired from the above.
