A ‘TIANHUANG’ GLASS FIGURE OF A BUDDHIST LION WITH CUB, c. 1920sChina, late Qing Dynasty (1644-1912) to Republic period (1912-1949). Depicting a Buddhist lion, with bulging eyes below the scrolling eyebrows and ears, the jaw open, showing its sharp teeth, and grasping its own tail between its clawed feet, with a playful cub crawling onto its back, and a bat also displayed on the lions back. The glass made in imitation of the precious tianhunag stone with a rich amber hue.Condition: Very good condition with minor wear, shallow surface scratches, and microscopic nicks here and there.
