A LONGQUAN CELADON ‘BOYS’ BOWL, NORTHERN SONG STYLEChina, Qing Dynasty (1644-1912). The deep conical sides rising from a short and diminutive ring foot to a slightly everted rim, the interior carved with alternating panels of leafy sprays and boys holding scrolling leafy stems. The exterior with a simplistic, ribbed band. The bowl is covered overall with a lustrous glaze of deep celadon tone suffused by a dense network of crackles. Condition: Good condition with minor wear, minimal fritting and firing irregularities. Provenance: The collection of The Zelnik István Southeast Asian Gold Museum. Institutional art collection in Belgium, acquired from the above. Dr. István Zelnik, President of the Hungarian South and Southeast Asian Research Institute, is a former high-ranking Hungarian diplomat who spent several decades in Southeast Asia, building the largest known private collection of Asian art in Europe.
