Carved as a slender figure of Buddha sitting in a meditation posture, wearing a robe tightly fitting to the body, one hand pointing to the earth as a sign of invocation of the earth goddess Mara, the other lying with the palm upwards on the lap. Remnants of a thin black lacquer coating. Condition: Extensive wear and weathering, losses, and wormholes. Provenance: German private collection, acquired at Galerie Zacke in 2008.
