A GROUP OF SIX GRECO-BACTRIAN MINIATURE LAPIS LAZULI VESSELSPresumably Greco-Bactrian Kingdom, c. 3rd – 2nd century BC. Each with a faceted baluster body rising from a flat foot to a short waisted neck. Cut out of massive stone, with a smooth surface and no decoration. The stones of intense, striking blue hues amid veins and patches in various shades of gray and light green beneath glimmering mica flecks.Condition: With traces of age and wear, the stone with natural imperfection. Three with few chips to the mouth rim, one with a chip to the base, and one with breakages and repairs. Provenance: The collection of The Zelnik István Southeast Asian Gold Museum. Institutional art collection in Belgium, acquired from the above. Dr. István Zelnik, President of the Hungarian South and Southeast Asian Research Institute, is a former high-ranking Hungarian diplomat who spent several decades in Southeast Asia, building the largest known private collection of Asian art in Europe.
