Notes: 1. U Kyi, born in Shwe Kyin town,is one of the well known Burmese artists painting with watercolor, who exhibited his works in many group shows and Myanmar annual Art Exhibitions. He lectured in Art at the Yan Kin Division Teacher training center in Rangoon. He was a member of the Art and Sculpture Council from 1957 to 1986. 2. Myanmar painting is crucial to Southeast Asian arts because its history reaches back to the 11th century AD. In Myanmar, the formal introduction of international painting occurred with the establishment of the Burma Art Club in 1918. In the 1920s, British club members sent two Burmese painters, Ba Nyan and Ba Zaw, to London to study at the Royal College of Art.
