Emerald green jadeite beads with a smooth, glossy finish. China, late Qing dynasty

A graduated strand of 88 beads, each carefully chosen by a master jeweler more than a century ago to become part of a necklace, which at the time and today is a ‘dream’ in classic emerald green. The clasp shows the sign shou for longevity and two bats in relief. The inscription on the back reads ‘SILVER’.
