Embossed, incised and cut thin sheet brass. Reticulated execution. Padded with parchment paper. Rotating interlock mechanism. Two latches at the lower end serve to hold a (missing) padlock. Several inlaid turquoise cabochons.. China, Qing dynasty, most likely second half of the 19th

One large round medallion at the center of each hemisphere shows a Qilin surrounded by clouds and four more medallions, each with a recumbent fo dog.
Shape: Globular
Dimensions: Diameter 21 cm.
Condition: Several of the inlaid turquoises are missing. Dented. Good patina.
Provenance/labels: Austrian private collection.
