Silk with multi-colored silk and gold brocade threads, with woven application borders, inside with silk lining, five fabric loops at the front. China, late Qing dynasty

This red Changyi robe shows delicate embroidery with colorful butterflies and flowers. At the hem of the collar and side fastening woven borders are applied and joined by a black silk band. Richly decorated, red colored silk bands with court ladies further adorn the sleeves. At the lower part of the garments a vivid wave pattern rounds off the design.

Condition: Overall fine condition with few open stitches or loose threads, some smaller stains. Fabric buttons missing and some tears at the collar. Background silk shows slight fading. Inside lining is worn and shows small holes and tears
