A SHEET GOLD PLAQUE INCISED WITH A LOTUS BLOOM, PRE-ANGKOR PERIODCambodia, late 6th to early 8th century. The gold sheet of circular form and incised with a lotus bloom. Alloy composition analysis: Gold 23 karat. The sheet was tested by the Zelnik István Southeast Asian Gold Museum. Condition: Good condition with some minor bending and few miniscule losses, traces of age and wear. Provenance: The collection of The Zelnik István Southeast Asian Gold Museum. Institutional art collection in Belgium, acquired from the above. Dr. István Zelnik, President of the Hungarian South and Southeast Asian Research Institute, is a former high-ranking Hungarian diplomat who spent several decades in Southeast Asia, building the largest known private collection of Asian art in Europe.
