A LARGE MARBLE LINGAM AND YONINorthern India, Rajasthan, 19th century or earlier. The grey and white marble stone carved with the lingam rising from the yoni, a spout at one end to allow unguents to flow off.Joined together the lingam and yoni represent the potent symbols of creation in Indian philosophy. The linga represents the male and is a symbol of the Hindu god Shiva, while the yoni represents the female.
