AN EARLY INDIAN BRONZE FIGURE OF GANESHAIndia, c. 16th century. The four-armed deity seated in lalitasana on a lotus base, one hand on his knee and holding a bowl of sweets, the other hand in vitarka mudra, and the two back hands holding a mala and an axe, his face with a long trunk, flanked by large ears, and surmounted by a headdress and conical crown. Condition: Good condition with minor surface wear, minuscule nicks, light scratches, manufacturing flaws, the base with dents, and areas of malachite encrustations. Provenance: Estate of an Austrian collector, the collection was assembled in the 1980s – 1990s through purchases at Galerie Zacke and other specialized galleries in Vienna.
