Very Fine Qianlong blue and red censer with ornately painted lid. Formed into a cupped body with a tall column stand. The censer would have been used to burn incense during spiritual rituals. The exterior is delicately decorated with hand painted four-claws iron-red dragon amidst dense of colorful Li-Shui wave formations. Waves are known to serve as the dragons abode, with the dragon representing the Emperor and imperial household. The clay is very fine, with a brilliant glaze finish that was applied by a meticulous craftsman. Mark interior foot base, a horizontal six blue underglazed seal script -ZhuanShu- characters, QianLong Reign Period of Great Qing Dynasty.
