Antique Ming Xuande blue Chinese Helmet Jar, with filigree patterning. Sturdy porcelain jar with robust shoulder region curving into a feminine waist that extends all the way to the bottom forming the raised circular base. The baluster jar is capped by a dome lid, resembling the form of a general's helmet, crowned with a simple lotus-bud finial. The exterior is encapsulated in Ming-blue repeating patterns. The foot rim reveals the cut edges during the making process, and the base left unglazed with grayish creme-brown ground and dark spots of firing marks. Mark on base, a vertical six blue underglazed script -KaiShu- characters, enclosed by double fine blue rings, XuanDe Reign Period of Great Ming Dynasty.
