High valued Chinese Zitan wood, carved in a rectangular shape, the exterior elaborately carved in relief of dragons and tendrils. The box is mounted with ruyi-shaped fittings, a rectangular lock plate, vase-shaped pulls and flanked by a pair of U-shaped handles, all in colorful enamel filling gilt bronze cloisonne works. With further ruyi shaped cloisonne works accents finely mounted on each corners. The Zitan wood shows density with lustrous patina and fine grain.
