Opaque white glass with delicately painted polychrome enamels.. China, 20th century

This bottle shows a skillfully executed circumferential scene with a scholar crossing a bridge across a river, another scholar and his pupil standing on a rock, a third scholar standing under a pine tree, and finally a scholar with his pupil in a pavilion. The setting consists of a monumental mountain landscape with trees of all kind and a lake with a fisher in a boat. The neck is decorated with a neatly painted leaf border. Although this bottle does not seem to have a lot of age, its quality is of a very high standard, hence an attribution to the Ye Bengqi workshop, the artist’s pupils or followers is possible.

Hollowing: standard Mouth, neck and lip: Sprawling cylindric neck, the base of neck curved, the mouth cylindric and of average size
Base: Round, with raised foot rim
Stopper: Gilt bronze stopper, reticulated depiction of dragon
Height of the bottle with stopper: 6.9 cm.
Width of the mouth: 6 mm.
Width of the neck: 16 mm.
Condition: Excellent condition
