Transparent rock crystal, of almost flawless clarity, with a smooth surface polish. China, 1750-1850
Carved in light relief and neatly incised to depict Liu Hai holding a coin, a bat flying above, a sevencharacter inscription to the right of the scene, the backside with two quails in a pond, the shoulders with archaistically meandered rectangular reserves. The inscription reads: “Fu ru Donghai/ Shou Nanshan”. Translation: May your age be as the southern mountain and your happiness as the eastern seas.
Shape: Bulbous rectangular shape
Hollowing: Excellent
Mouth, neck and lip: Cylindric neck, very small cylindric mouth, the base of neck flat with a slanted lip
Base: Oval with raised, broad foot rim
Stopper: Glass in imitation of pink tourmaline, on a brass platelet
Height of the bottle with stopper: 7.4 cm.
Width of the mouth: 6 mm.
Width of the neck: 20 mm.
Condition: Minor natural fissures to stone, one minuscule, barely visible chip to one of the reserves on the shoulders
