Robust and heavy pottery, the foot and inside unglazed. China, Ming Dynasty, 1368-1644
The rounded sides rising from a tapered foot to a waisted neck and rolled rim, painted with a wide central band of a continuous lotus pond scene with various birds, roundels of peony and ruyi at the shoulder, below a band of cloud scroll at the rim and a band of lappets at the foot, all delicately painted in intense cobalt blue on white ground.
Shape: Baluster form
Dimensions: Height 30 cm.
Condition: Extensive surface wear and scratches, the rim with significant damage visibly restored, several larger firing faults
