A GLAZED CERAMIC `DRAGON´ VESSELSoutheast Asia, c. 1920s. The recumbent dragon with the mouth wide open in a ferocious snarl, the fierce expression further marked by pointed ears and two horns, the body defined with a prominent spine and a large sharp tail, the top and mouth with an opening. Covered in a thick, crackled, ivory white glaze, the underside revealing the buff ware. Condition: Very good condition with minor wear and firing flaws, including open bubbles, and pitting. Provenance: The collection of The Zelnik István Southeast Asian Gold Museum. Institutional art collection in Belgium, acquired from the above. Dr. István Zelnik, President of the Hungarian South and Southeast Asian Research Institute, is a former high-ranking Hungarian diplomat who spent several decades in Southeast Asia, building the largest known private collection of Asian art in Europe.
