Ivan Albright, ANA (1897-1983) Angkor Wat, 1969 gouache on paper, 10.5 x 14.5, signed, titled and dated 1969 lower left, excellent condition. Ivan Albright, an American painter noted for his meticulously detailed, exaggeratedly realistic depictions of decay and corruption is considered to be a magic realist. He was possessive of his meticulously done paintings and asked 30 to 60 times what comparable artists were asking. He continued to paint, even on his deathbed after a stroke. Studied: Art Institute of Chicago (won scholarship to Art Institute of Chicago, renewed 3 times), Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts and National Academy of Design.
